Profiling Recruits: Some Wisconsin businesses reportedly are using a Web site popular with college students to gather intelligence about potential job candidates--and eliminate people who don't measure up. According to television station WQOW in Eau Claire, hiring managers anonymously troll through Facebook.com to view photographs, read online conversations and peruse other personal information posted by students, apparently without their knowledge. That could mean students might unwittingly lose out on potential jobs they didn't know existed. If a student posts information on the site that is deemed "unprofessional and an employer sees (it), that could very much affect the hiring decision," according to Jeanne Skoug, the head of career services at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
