Unemployment Compensation is Taxable    Back to All Articles

An important reminder from the Department of Workforce Development!

Did you remember to claim any unemployment compensation on your income taxes? If not, be sure to file a corrected return.

Form 1099-G statements were mailed to all individuals who were paid unemployment benefits in 2006 between January 13, 2007 and January 31, 2007. The amount included on Form 1099-G includes deductions for child support, offsets applied to overpayments, and benefits applied to forfeitures.

For questions concerning the dollar amounts on form 1099-G, you can call 1-800-572-8969 or 414-438-2099 between the hours of 7:45 AM to 4:00 PM – Monday through Friday.

For questions on income tax reporting, call the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) at 1-800-829-1040 or the Wisconsin Department of Revenue at 608-266-2772 or 414-227-4000.

You may also obtain a copy of your Form 1099-G information from the Internet at: www.ucclaim-wi.org. For security purposes, you will need your Social Security number and Personal Identification Number (PIN).
