Sure, great attendance is important in a workplace, but at what cost? We've all met this person: he drags himself out of bed and turns up the drama. He's too sick to come to work, but he wants to make sure everyone knows he's there in spite of his illness. He proceeds to cough, sneeze and run 102 fever at his desk and manages to spread his illness to everyone else that uses the same phone, copier or water cooler that he does. This problem is called Presenteeism and it means showing up when one is not well enough to work. This is a problem for 56 percent of 326 US human resource executives surveyed.
