Since we spent some time this week talking about the benefits of hiring older workers, we should remind you about the Senior Citizen's Freedom to Work Act of 2000 that was passed in April of 2000. Because of this act, the earnings of older workers are now unlimited and the employees won't lose any of their Social Security benefits. As always, an employee should check with a tax adviser about how this law impacts his/her earnings, but it is surprising how many older workers are not aware of this earning limits change.
